Guinness World Record in Winter Bathing

Sola offers a multitude of possibilities for winter and year-round swimming - now a world record is to be set!

Guinness World Record in Winter Bathing

In December 2024, a record was set in winter grand bathing in Norway at Ølbergstrand in Sola. Up to 2,500 happy bathers from all of the region participated in the event. Breakfast was offered, hot drinks were served and several saunas were available for the most eager bathers.

On December 13, 2025, an attempt is to be made to set the Guinness World Record in grand winter bathing in the same place. This will require 3,500 bathers doing the grad bath together. The event is free and open to all. Bring friends and family, a little courage, some cold tolerance and warm clothing!

In 2024, on December 14, there was around 6 degrees celsius in the water and around 5 degrees celsius in the air at Ølberg beach. It can be beneficial to begin year-round bathing training already in the fall season. Sola has many bathing areas for year-round swimming and several groups where several bathers gathers and swim together. Solastranden bathing association is one of the groups.
