History was made at Ølbergstranden on December 13, 2025, with a Guinness World Record for winter bathing!
It all began in December 2024, when a Norwegian record for winter swimming was set at Ølbergstranden in Sola. Nearly 2,500 happy swimmers from the region took part in the event, joining in the biggest mass bath in the history of Sola municipality.
Breakfast was provided, hot drinks were served, and several saunas were available for the most enthusiastic participants.
On December 13, 2025, the Guinness World Record for winter bathing was set at the same location. Over 3,500 happy bathers participated and secured the world record.

In 2024, on December 14, the water temperature was around 6°C and the air temperature was around 5°C. It can be an advantage to start training for year-round swimming in the autumn. Sola has many swimming spots suitable for year-round use and several groups where people swim together. Solastranden Badeforening is one such group.
