Christmas activities, Christmas concerts, Christmas movies and not least shows with Svartnissen! At Sola Kulturhus there is a lot of fun that happens before Christmas for both young and old. At Sola Library you can create Christmas decorations and participate in varied workshops that will get you in a real Christmas mood. Sola Ruinkyrkje is a perfect place to hear beautiful Christmas music — catch one of the concerts here in December.

Christmas tree lighting in the centre of Sola
This year, Christmas greening has been moved from the first Sunday of Advent to Saturday, November 29. Then there will be more fun Christmas activities in Solakrossen. The event starts at 2pm, and the mayor lights the Christmas tree at 5pm. There will be singing by the culture school, music from the Skolekorpset Sola, walking around the Christmas tree, as well as the sale of cakes and hot drinks.
Program in Solakrossen and outside the Town Hall:
14:00 to 16:00: The shops are open and there will be Christmas cheer for young and old throughout the afternoon.
14:00 to 17:00: Christmas atmosphere at Kaktus Café & Bar with, among other things, a Christmas market/second-hand market in the garage.
14:00 to 19:00: Open ChurchThe church is open throughout the afternoon. After the Christmas celebration, the School Corps invites Sola into the church hall, with sales of cakes, sweet temptations, hot drinks and lottery tickets to the tradition.
16:00 to 17:00: Taste of Christmas. Joker Brustadbua hands out free clementines and chocolate milk to everyone who comes by.
17:00: Christmas celebration outside the Town Hall. The mayor lights the Christmas tree, the Sola school corps plays, and the culture school choir leads us in song as we walk around the Christmas tree. The Town Hall Café is open and serves hot chicken soup.

Christmas markets
There are several Christmas markets in Sola in December. But a very special Christmas atmosphere can be found in Ølberg harbour when the characteristic nautical boats and fishing boats are decorated with Christmas lights. You will be looking for a better Christmas market. In Ølberg harbour, magic is created when the tractor-train with Christmas lights comes rolling. Here you can also enjoy fun activities for children, a visit from Santa Claus and not least a pleasant Christmas shopping in the traditional boat houses that have a good selection of food and goods.
